Biography
Stephen LaMont joined The University of New Mexico as a National Laboratory Professor in 2023 and is a member of the scientific staff at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Most of his work utilizes radioanalytical chemistry to study unique problems related to nuclear forensics, safeguards, treaty monitoring, environmental studies, and internal dosimetry. Recent work has focused on parent-progeny radiochronometer behavior through fuel cycle processes to better understand how to interpret this data for nuclear forensics, and studying the lung dissolution rates of plutonium oxides to improve internal dosimetry models. Stephen has over 50 peer-reviewed papers, is an active member of the American Nuclear Society, and serves as the U.S. co-Chair for the Libraries Task Group of the Nuclear Forensics International Technical Working Group.</p?
